Hand painted snail with gear operated pulley system

 

In this work, a persistent snail makes its way across the full length of the gallery floor. Travelling at a specific speed the snail’s journey is timed to the duration of the exhibition; the exhibition ends when the journey is completed. 

Like the hour hand on a clock, the snail’s movement is subtle and most noticeable by observing the change in location over a longer period of time.
